Take the long way home

At Home:
We were following MapQuest instructions to a shop in Forney, Texas that stocks Hannah's school uniform.

The instruction for one of the exits was incorrect (a common occurence it turns out) and we ended up driving up and down a 2 mile stretch of service roads next to Highway 80 looking for this particular clothes shop.

We were after 129, we had found 124, it was an empty section next to a McDonalds, but for the life of us we couldn't see 129 (even across the highway).

Thinking we may be in the wrong area altogether, we called the Place (yep, that's the name of the place, The Place), she didn't recognise any of landmarks Euna was describing.

We gave up and pulled into a carpark to turn back home and there it was, this bloody clothes shop.
Turned out the lady behind the counter didn't realise there were shops across the Highway.
Hmmmm...

Anyway, in our wanderings we passed a jet plane on the side of the road.

Turned out to be an "antique shop" (read huge warehouses) filled to gunnels with..... stuff, is the only word I can use.

Some of it was quite old (church pew carved in 1870), quirky (life size fibre glass figurines), military (bomb casings) or just plain bizarre (huge steel scupltures).

Anyway, well worth getting lost in the end, you could spend days in this place and not see it all.
We are going back to get one of their huge copper Texas Star's.

Which leads onto the start of the really strange stuff


Next to the front stairs... can you see the lone star to the right, it's up to my shoulders (1.5 m?)

Inside, this place is absolutely packed (just like the picture above) with everything and nothing.
So much so that there are just twisting pathways through.
