First week at work

Home Front:
Hannah is at school. Entry into school is based on your age on the 1st September. Because Hannahs' birthdate is after the 1st, she can't go into the state school. We found a private school that has a spot for her in their kindergarten class. The kindergarten kids are 5-6. They did an appraisal and reckon she is up to it, even though she is a year behind. Also, if they feel she can handle it, they keep moving her through the grades. Which is really cool. We were a little worried Hannah would go stir crazy (along with Euna) if she had to wait a year. It has not come cheap though. We aren't going to have much change out of $600 a month. Eek, that was an unexpected expense, but we don't like the alternative.

Work Front:
Security onsite is unreal. We have access to the building in which we work. All other areas are not open to us without an escort. There are certain areas that we will probably never see due to security restrictions.
We cannot take any recording device onsite. This includes cellphones with inbuilt camera, USB flash drives, cameras, PDAs. Laptops have to signed in and out. They get checked on the way out.
As for documents, we have a lockup cupboard for all paperwork, nothing classified should be visible when we leave at night. In fact, there is paperwork of certain secrecy that shouldn't be out of sight at anytime.
We cannot take paper work offsite. Freaky environment to work in. Says to me that I won't be taking work home to read in my spare time.
Perhaps not such a bad thing.
