DeanH Visit - Saturday
Continuing on from my last post about DeanH visit.
Saturday was Dean's present buying time for people back home.
We had already been to WalMart, which is like Warehouses big, big, big brother.
If it isn't at WalMart then you probably don't really need it.
They will have it, the quality just may be a little on the low side, but they'll have it.
They'll have it cheap enough that you'll wonder why bother looking after something, when you can toss it and buy another, or buying second hand.
We also went to where every self respecting tecno geek goes... Frys.
It's this enormous warehouse full to the brim with electonica.
To give you an idea how big this place is, it has 50 or so checkouts.
And there have been times when each and everyone of them is full.
It's pretty much a compulsory stop whenever anyone comes over to visit.
On our way out there, we stopped in at a place called The Olive Garden (An Italian resturant).
It was around lunch time.
Sadly, there was 30-45 minute wait.
Being in the land of consumerism, we went next door to the next available restaurant.
This place had no waiting at all.
It's called Winghouse.
Well..., figured this would be a good oppurtunity to introduce DeanH to Buffalo Wings.
We'd done JFK, stetson, saco do toro...
Why not chicken strips covered in some spicy sauce.
The place was filled with waitresses that were all are quite striking and a uniform that consisted of a tight black singlet and a pair of tight hot pants.
Turns out this is one of Hooters competitors.
I ordered a Chicken Salad that came in a bowl the size of a bucket and DeanH got a chili dog from our lovely waitress..
We were talking away and trying not to be too obvious about our staring, when the waitress came over to see how the meal was.
She started working on her tip by telling DeanH he had beautiful eyes.
She went on to tell us how the owner started the franchise down in Tampa, Florida cause he got kicked out of a Hooters once and vowed to beat them at there own game.
DeanH mentioned he thought he had recognised the name from some other time he was in Tampa.
Apparently, the clientelle are a lot classer than at Hooters, over there they all get drunk and have fights (Sounds a bit like a Maguire Christmas lunch).
I couldn't get over the fact there were couples and families with kids who eating there.
A group of four ladies even came in for lunch, for crying out loud.
What a surreal lunch.
We pushed on to Frys, and lurched around the place looking at all the electronica they had on offer.
What a place... Kids at a candy store.
I think, luckily for DeanH he didn't have a lot of luggage space left for gadgets, otherwise he'd have blown the budget.
Unless, of course he has a stronger budgetary will than me.
