What a weekend
We have had a most extraordinary weekend.
This is the 4th July weekend, which a pretty big thing over here.
And a holiday. And the unofficial BBQ weekend.
We started Saturday with a delayed coverage of the All Blacks sticking it to the Lions.
All congregated at the mansion owned Sean (one of the guys working on the team) and wathed the game in his home theatre room. With the projector, surround sound, no less.
Sunday we were invited to a camp site on one of the lakes booked by another of the team.
Him and his mates go there pretty much every long weekend they can during summer.
They have a pontoon boat, wet bike and their trailers.

Roughing it, Texan style
That baby is air conditioned, has a master bedroom, kitchen and a toilet, no less.
Each site has power, a covered table with a bbq and direct access to the lake.

Lake, Pontoon boat, Wet bike, what more do you need
We went out in the pontoon boat and had a swim.
Hannah was jumping off the side of the boat into 30 feet of water.
AlanM went for a blast on the wet bike.
Sunday evening it was out to yet another place to watch fireworks go off.
It is against the law to let off fireworks in the city area.
So, these people have been getting together over the last few years.
This year they had approx $3000 worth of explosives to detonate.
There were people in bib overalls and John Deer caps.
We were in this huge back yard that a bbq's, bar, outdoor tables, fans and volley ball net.
And a table groaning with explosives.

$3000 worth of explosives, yep, the table was sagging under the weight of it all

First shots were packed with paper parachutes and streamers, which kept the kids occupied
After the eating was done and it got dark, it was time for the real show.
After 2 hours of these guys firing off their stuff, we went and had a look at what was left, they were only half way through.
Sadly, we had to leave.

All the kids (big and small) were given glow tubes, this is Hannah
On Sunday it was around to another house for another BBQ, this time with a pool.
So, it was basically, lazying around a pool, knocking back beers and burgers.
The other went to a firework demonstration on the lake, but we went home (we were tired and had the good ole boy version the night before).
Turned out we got a fairly decent show from the carpark in front of our place.
Whew...
What a weekend!!!
